Kintsukuroi - Japanese Woodblock Traditional Yokai Yurei Ghost Spooky Geisha Broken Doll Art
A lot of my digital work is inspired by Japanese art, both modern and traditional. My influences include Katsushika Hokusai, Hishikawa Moronobu and Kitagawa Utamaro (ukiyo-e - pictures of the floating world/wood block artists), Koga Harue, Yumiko Kayukawa (surrealism) and more modern artists such as Chiho Aoshima, Makoto Muramatsu, Yoshitomo Nara and Akira Toriyama (digital art/manga). Most of these pieces start out with a sketch which is then scanned then manipulated in Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop. Kintsukuroi was inspired by the Japanese art of mending broken pottery with gold lacquer to make them more beautiful.
Available as an A3 (42 cm x 29.7 cm) or A4 (12cm x 29.7cm) print with or without gold leaf. Choose options from the drop down menu.
Gold leaf is applied to the cracks in the geishas face, arms and her nails to add lustre to the image.
Also available in other sizes, please message me for info. Printed on high quality 200gsm paper.
